The TLA professional learning framework is based on six core dimensions that encourage professionals to research, collaborate, plan, undertake and evaluate a professional enquiry project and disseminate the findings. Projects are assessed against criteria which confirm that the participant has followed the process outlined in these core dimensions (see document entitled ‘TLA Recognition and Accreditation Booklet’ for further details).
The 6 core dimensions are integral to the TLA and relevant throughout Recognition and Accreditation.
The research process
The participant:
Chooses a development focus for enquiry and explores research in that subject area
Works with a tutor to plan the learning journey, how they intend to conduct the research and what they hope to find
Applies the new learning by trying out, adapting and adopting new techniques
Shares the learning and findings with a tutor, colleagues and peers (in other schools/colleges/educational organisations, locally, nationally and internationally depending on the level of learning)
Records reflections (orally, written or multi-media) on the overall process and the impact it has had on practice
Has his or her Recognition work evaluated and verified by fellow teachers who have been TLA trained for this role. Has his or her Accreditation work evaluated and assessed by a HEI tutor
