St Mary’s University College was founded in 1850 as a Catholic teacher training College and still a third of the students are training to be teachers following either undergraduate or postgraduate training routes into teaching. The School of Education is graded Outstanding in both Primary and Secondary education by Ofsted.St Mary’s is also one of the three partners together with Kingston and Roehampton Universities running the West London Partnership which is one of the largest GTP providers for the employment based teaching route.
The School of Education offers a range of accredited and certificated CPD for teachers and all school staff from foundation degree level to Masters and PHd .
The University College has excellent transport links and is noted for its sporting facilities, having been chosen the official pre games training camp of Athletes from the South African, Irish and Chinese 2012 Olympic Teams.
